Many community colleges, four-year colleges,
and universities offer dental hygiene education
programs. The Commission on Dental
Accreditation can help to find a program
near you. A dental hygiene associate degree
can be obtained from an accredited dental
hygiene program, which may last two to
three years and include periodontics, medical
ethics, and anatomy. Classroom, lab, and clinical
work may need to be completed. A dental
hygiene bachelor's degree and master's degree
will allow the holder to teach, conduct research
and perform clinical work in a school
or public health program.
