Dentistry was initially taught as a minor sub-branch
of medicine at Tehran University in 1894.
The Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Faculty of Dentistry was then formally
established in 1934 as a major department
within the Faculty of Medicine. It became a
separate facility with independent faculty in 1956.
