The first Dental School in Europe was the
London School of Dental Surgery
(originally named the Dental Hospital of London),
founded in 1858 by the Odontological
Society of London with 43 initial students,
all of whom passed the qualifying exams
in 1860 and were awarded Licentiates in Dental
Surgery given by the Royal College of Surgeons.
